Colorado Buffaloes v Kansas State Wildcats

Colorado suffered a heartbreaking loss this weekend… On Saturday, they lost a 28-31 game against Kansas State. Although Kansas State was the favorite going into the game, Colorado scored a touchdown in the last quarter, which put them ahead, giving Cu Buffs fans hope that they would come through. However, Kansas State scored a final touchdown that put them in the lead about a minute before the game ended. Although it was a rough loss, it did showcase how far Colorado has come since last year. I hope you guys all got to see it!
On a less positive note, Travis Hunter suffered an injury that kept him out of the game during the first half. Considering Hunter’s contribution on offense and defense, this could be bad moving forward. However, Prime has reported that he should be back this weekend to face Arizona, which is a huge relief!
Going into Saturday, the Arizona Wildcats are a 2.5-point favorite. However, that has never stopped us from getting the win. Sko Buffs!! I’ll report on the game in next week’s blog, so look out!
Part 2 of Football Lingo
Huddle: When all 11 players ( from one team ) are on the field and come together to strategize the next play. For offense, it is the quarterback’s job to communicate the next play with the team.
Yellow card – A yellow card is when the referee cautions a player for misconduct. Two yellow cards equal a red card…
Red card -Busted! A red card is given when a player commits a serious foul and has to leave the field, resulting in their team playing with one less player. ( examples: unsportsmanlike conduct, targeting, personal foul, face mask )
Free kick – A free kick is given after a foul. There are two different free kicks. A direct kick is when the kick is taken directly to the goal. In an indirect free kick, the ball has to touch another player before it can be scored.
Extra point – After scoring a touchdown, the team has the option to kick a field goal for an extra point or attempt a two-point conversion
Sack – If the quarterback is sacked, they’re tackled behind the line of scrimmage while still having the ball ( before they throw the ball ). Can cause a loss of yardage (loss of yards from offense).
Snap – When the ball is hiked between their legs by the center to the quarterback. This is the starting point for offensive plays.
Hash Marks – are the lines on the field that denote the width within the field. They also help the referee spot the ball.
Blitz – A defensive strategy in which an extra player ( usually a linebacker or defensive back) attempts to rush the quarterback. This play is used to try to put pressure on the quarterback.
Home field advantage – Home field advantage is a term used in many different sports. It is the idea that a team has a better chance of winning if it plays in its home stadium.
