Sko Buffs, let’s keep this going…

The Buffs had another great game against the Cincinnati Bearcats last weekend, bringing our current record to 6-2 this season! This is only Colorado’s second time playing Cincinnati in history. Let’s talk about that game…

Highlights

Sheduer Sanders ( Quarterback) passed for 323 yards and 2 TDs. Sander had a great game Saturday despite being sacked ( tackled with the ball) by Cincinnati’s Jared Barlett. He completes 25 out of 30 overall passes.

Travis Hunter ( Cornerback and wide receiver ) had 9 catches, 153 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 tackles during the game, proving once again how valuable he is to the Buffs’ offense and defense. He also had a 34-yard touchdown only two seconds before halftime. Leaving Colorado Coach Deion Sanders saying, “Travis is the best football player in the country.”

Isaiah Augustave (Running back)  also scored his third touchdown. Showing his value even as a sophomore.

Like Hunter, Lajohntay Wester ( Wide receiver ) has been having a great season. He has 7 touchdowns and is only 1 behind Hunter, with 8 touchdowns.

Overall, Colorado had a very successful game. As a result, Colorado will also be eligible for the Big 12 bowl game for the first time in eight years. This shows Deion’s Sander’s massive impact on the Colorado team and the new team unity. I hope to see them go far and continue on this streak.

The game was also the Big 12’s most-watched game this weekend, with extremely high ratings! Fans are ecstatic about the Buff’s recent success and excited to see us back in the game! With a by weekend right before heading to Texas Tech, people are excited for this game next week!

More Football Lingo…

Backfield— The field is divided into offensive and defensive sections. The offensive backfield is the section right behind the offensive line, where the quarterback lines up. The defensive backfield is the section behind the defensive line where the linebackers and defensive backs line up.

Interception- This one is obvious. It’s when the ball is intercepted between two players when a defender catches the ball from the opposing team’s offense.

Pocket- The section surrounding the quarterback by the offensive line that prevents him from being sacked ( tackled with or before he can throw the ball).

Rushing- When an offensive player runs with the ball in their hands, advancing it closer to their endzone.

Quarters—The game is split into four 15-minute quarters, with a break between the first two and the last two, which is called halftime! A typical American football game lasts about three hours, but the times often vary between high school, college, and professional.

Dead Ball- A ball is considered ‘dead’ during play stoppages and between timeouts.

Dead ball foul- A dead ball foul is a foul that happens in between playtime when the ball is supposed to be dead.

Neutral Zone- The offense and defense line up on opposite sides of the neutral zone and aren’t allowed to enter it until the ball is snapped.
